PROFIT - Promoting Regional Opportunities For Investment and Trade

Sector:Private sector development
SDGs: Zero Hunger, Clean Water and Sanitation
Country/Region: Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam and India

The Need

The PROFIT project is an initiative of the Asian Development Bank to encourage and promote growth in trade and investment between India and the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS, which for this project they define as Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand).

Intervention

ADB awarded a contract to a partnership comprising IMC Worldwide, the Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI) and ASSIST. We Developed an ‘acceleration service’ targeted at SMEs, that is, a programme of support designed to help businesses start or expand international trade activities more quickly (and we hope more successfully) than they would have done if there had been no help available.

Our Output/Impact

ASSIST developed an introductory module that covered topics such as ‘thinking about international trade, ‘researching the market’, ‘planning for international trade’, ‘planning for international investment’, ‘managing your money’ and ‘visiting your target country’. Training modules with a combination of video, written material, assignments and live webinars were also created by Assist.
