The Need
The size of the food processing industry in the Philippines highlights its valuable contribution to socioeconomic growth but at the same time, reveals its considerable environmental footprint which poses a significant level of environmental risks, primarily in terms of waste, and wastewater generation, energy consumption, and air pollution. Making MSMEs that contribute to majority production from this industry understand and acknowledge it quantitatively required success stories.
Intervention
ASSIST demonstrated that greening the business brings both economic and non-economic benefits through an extensive industry research, data gathering, development of business case and articulation into a knowledge product.

- Adoption of new business registration practices put forth by DTI to promote greening
