Rethinking Plastics – Circular Economy Solutions to Marine Litter

PROJECT BACKGROUND

The Rethinking Plastics program, implemented across seven Asia-Pacific countries, aimed to address marine litter by promoting circular economy solutions and sustainable plastic consumption. The initiative focused on raising awareness about responsible plastic use and waste management while fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration for long-term environmental conservation.

OUR INTERVENTION

ASSIST supported the campaign by developing a comprehensive communication strategy, producing animated videos, and publishing technical articles. We also designed visually compelling posters and social media content, facilitated knowledge exchange sessions, and compiled media coverage reports to track and amplify outreach.

OUR IMPACT

The campaign went beyond awareness, influencing behavior change and sparking dialogue on sustainable plastic use across seven countries. With over 1 million people reached and 320,000 engagements, stakeholders recognized it as a catalyst for advancing circular economy practices and strengthening regional commitment to reducing marine litter.
