ASSIST partnered with Y Global to launch the “Call My Reality” campaign, amplifying the lived experiences of young people most affected by HIV—LGBTQ individuals, sex workers, people living with HIV, and young women and girls. The campaign aimed to give these groups a platform to share their stories, foster understanding among policymakers, and advance rights related to sexual and reproductive health.
To bring these stories to life, ASSIST led storytelling sessions, workshops, and produced the Y+ Podcast series, which reached six episodes by December 2023 with more themes planned. We also produced youth-centered videos, designed inclusive communication materials, and developed a targeted social media strategy. At the national level, youth advocates will continue amplifying the campaign through digital platforms starting February 2024.
In just three months (as of June 2024), the campaign reached over 1.7 million people, with more than 123,000 social media engagements, 8,400 new followers, and 22,500 podcast clicks. By sharing diverse content formats—videos, graphics, podcasts, and promos—we not only raised awareness about HIV but also strengthened community ties and empowered young people to speak out, fostering a more supportive and inclusive environment.
